SYPNOSIS:

The look at the French West Indies taken by the media is alarming and seems to be summed up in a few words:
delinquency, violence, unemployment, prostitution, drug addiction.

This finding is not without foundation since in 2013 Guadeloupe held the sad record of the most deadly French department. 40 murders were, indeed, committed only in 2013. Facing this situation, the government policies have too often provided solutions essentially based on security without necessarily questioning the causes of this growing crime.

What are they? What does the daily life of the Guadeloupeans really look like?

KARUKERA tries to answer those questions, showing a much more complex reality than the vision given by the media.

This film is a journey that will make you discover Guadeloupe, from the most underprivileged areas to the most remote spots of the island, giving the floor to those who are directly and indirectly impacted by the economic and social crisis experienced by this territory.

Above all, this movie intends to raise awareness and interest to Guadeloupeans from another standpoint.
